Akümsan was founded in 1979 in Istanbul to supply storage battery boxes and lids to the battery manufacturers serving Turkey's developing automotive industry. The firm was able to switch from the production of ebonit battery boxes and lids to polypropylene boxes and lids in 6 years. This change in production marked the beginning of a period of growth, and it soon acquired the status of a joint-stock company. Successfully meeting the needs of automotive sector by virtue of its prominent identity as a designer in the battery market, Akümsan is now recognized as a leading firm in the Middele East holding a number of quality and design certificates and exporting to many countries. Akümsan has its facilities installed on a total area of 10.000 sqm. Its new factory located at Beylikduzu-Istanbul well reflects Akümsan's practical, functional and modern approach of design. Nearly 120 persons are employed at the factory where the production is carried out using the plastic injection machinery of 160-850 tons of capacity. Equipped with the state of the art machinery, the factory has been so designed as to allow any future expansions and developments. Furthermore, it has been built to accommodate the means designed to facilitate all stages of factory operations such as the reception of raw materials, production, storage, loading and any other details.
